Code of Ethics

​Members of the Japanese Terrier Club of America (JTCA) agree to abide by the following:

  1. Agree with and abide by the mission statement.
  2. Agree with and abide by the constitution and bylaws.
  3. In good standing with the American Kennel Club.
  4. Exhibit good sportsmanship at all times as defined by the AKC code of sportsmanship and behave in a manner such to be a credit to the breed, the club, and all activities participated in.
  5. Maintain the best possible standard of health and care in all dogs.
  6. No member shall engage in the intentional breeding of unrelated breeds or 'designer dogs' of the Japanese Terrier unless approved by the Club. 
  7. Maintain accurate records of their dogs, made available to puppy buyers.
  8. Breeders are responsible for all puppies they produce for the life of the dog. Owners are responsible to notify the breeder of a dog they can no longer keep to give the breeder opportunity to take the dog back.
